Notting Hill Carnival 2022

Notting Hill Carnival 2022

I was brought in to work on the 2022 Notting Hill Carnival as Operational Lead (Bronze Command) for the events at Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park. The return of Notting Hill Carnival was an anticipated moment given the pressures of lockdown over the last two years.

Coming in to work show days, I oversaw the events at Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park. The park is a 5000 capacity space that sits right in the middle of the carnival footprint. This year’s carnival weekend included Panorama (Aug 27th), Wray and Nephew’s takeover (Aug 28th) and Alvaro Barrington Presents: Mele (Aug 29th).

I worked alongside Luca Onisto from Passa Productions who advanced the shows and led on all things production. My responsibilities covered working closely with security and Silver and Bronze Commanders within the Metropolitan Police across the weekend. I also liaised with St John’s Ambulance regarding medical provisions for the site and had overall responsibility for the site and those on it.

With Wray and Nephew’s takeover, I played a supporting role to their lead team acting as point of contact for the site helping to troubleshoot issues as they arose.
